Check out my new Profile/Interview!!
06/11/07
Well first off, congrat's to all the Northerns competitors this past weekend. I had a blast judging and it was nice to see some familiar faces!
I will be judging Southerns this weekend in Red-Deer as well so good luck to everyone.
On the baby front, I only have the rest of June, July & August left (bit of Sept perhaps)....hot months but good for getting outdoors for some exercising. If it is a girl; she is sure active- I think she is doing routines in there..ha ha...it's an awesome feeling though...being kicked and punched from the inside. :)
Talk to ya all soon!!
Berns:)

Holy do I have some updating to do! Things are great....I guess the first thing I can mention, now that I have announced it, is that my wonderful husband and I are expecting a new addition to the family. Oh and Ashlee bear is so excited for a new sister or brother!! I'm already going into my 16th week and feel pretty big (for me) but not quite showing noticably in the belly yet. Although I have not been feeling very well I managed to get in a 1hour bike last Sat and I hope to do the same this weekend.
Some other exciting things are that we leave next week for another travel trip, with our 5th wheel, to Vegas, Cali and maybe into Mexico. I think the three of us are sooooo ready for a holiday; I can't wait!!
By the way, I have also committed to judge the ABBA shows this season. So if you will be there; I look forward to seeing you.
I hope all is well. Keep smil'in :)

01/18/07
Happy New Year Everyone!! I hope all is well...and 2007 (can you believe it?) is treating you good...so far :)
Well, Vegas was great once again; but sure not restful...hee hee...especially Grant and I. Oh well, we can rest when were older right!? All kidding aside....we had a blast but it sure is hard to be away from our pumpkin!! Maybe the next trip will be a cruise or something with the WHOLE fam damly.
Our basement is just about cmplete and we can't wait to chill and just watch movies on the big screen.
Since we will be doing lot's of that.....I better make mention that I am plannng on hitting my workouts again hard...I have a new IPOD so running and Triathlon and Duathlon training here I come!!
I should tell you a funny story...a few weeks back I thought I would go for a run...after taking a few weeks off...well my goal was to make it around the entire lake of Chestermere...and well; I did....but let's just say it was not a treat..ha haa. I can't wait to get back into the groove.
I'll be back real soon!!
Bye for now....BW.
11/28/06
Well it has been forever~ I know! I appologize once again for not updating sooner however; we have had some pure unlucky situations during and since our holiday. We seem to survive it all though and I guess it just makes us stronger people!!
Other than the few bumps in the raod we are looking foward to Christmas and New Years. Grant and I will be attending the UFC 66 (Tito and Lidell fight)...can't wait....we are truely addicted now. As mentioned below the UFC 65 was spectacular even though we were having extreme travel issues...we made it to that event and actually had the chance to hang out with some celeberties and really cool people. Let's hope UFC 66 is just as fun...it is over New Years so it should be even better!!
Ash Bear is doing amazing...she received her report card from school and; even though it is just kindergarden, she had unbelievable comments about her work ethic and eagerness to help out in the class room. She makes us very proud everyday!!
That's all for now. I'll keep you posted on my competitive/sporty side of things.....oh, we have been motocrossing a bit but the cold spell were having now put a x-nay to that!!
Talk to ya all soon!
Berns:)
09/28/06
I'm back as promised. Things are great and we are only days away from our annual family get-away to Vegas/Cali/Mexico. Many exciting things planned including the US Open (Motocross) and UFC (Ultimate Fighting Challange)- The "Franklin" FIGHT- Yahoo...we are soo excited. Both Grant and I are huge UFC fans...hee hee....crazy but exciting!! :)
Fitness wise I'm back in the gym as often as possible. I get in cardio and some lifting....I've lost ton's of weight (maybe a bit of muscle) and look fairly skinny once again. It's tough to hold on to muscle mass when my body is not built to be bulky. I'm happy and excited to compete again...just not sure in what yet. I will definatly keep you posted. Speaking of competing my hubby will be competing again this year at "Day in the Dirt" for motocross. One main goal babe- BEAT JC- or maybe that is JK (ha ha). The boyz will defnately have fun on their excursion and that's all that counts!! :)
Oh one more thing.....to my five new girls I'm dieting and helping out with toneing and feeling fit!! Keep strong, determined and focused....only you can make the difference....the results will pay off when you're standing in your bikini's!!
Keep in touch and remember only 88days left for Christmas shopping......time fly's so enjoy every minute of it!!
Bye for now.
Berns:)
09/07/06
Wow. It has been a while! I hope all is well for those of you still checking out my site. Things have been hectic lately but here I am....time to update!!
Since my last entry; so many things have happened.....Ashlee has now started kindergarden and just loves it!! She is attending an "Arts Academy" and it could not be a better fit for her personallity. Grant and I both love it!! She also recently learned to ride her bike with no training wheels....remember that day...I do!! :) :)
Grant, myself, and a few of our friends rode our motocross bikes ontop of a mountian in Nelson BC this past weekend....it was soooo much fun....a few spills and bruises but all worth it at the top;while having our picnic!!
We'll be taking our big driving trip in Oct., to Vega/Cali/Mexico, again this year.....can't wait. Lot's planned....especially just having some fun, fun fun!!
One more thng to leave you with....congrat's to Grant for winning sales person of the year for Tige Boats.....you rock sweetie.....just about catch'in up to me....hee hee. Love you!
Talk to you all soon!
Bernie:)
07/14/06
Ashlee's 5th B'day this weekend. Happy Birthday my sweetie pie!! Mommy and Daddy love you so very much and are so proud of everything you do!!
06/30/06
Hi my friends, a quick hello and shout out to my good friend Jill who is competing Nationals this weekend!! I miss you girl and wish I could be there.....unfortunately some personal obstacles have surfaced for the Wallace family and we will not be able to make Nationals this year. I'll be think'in of you all weekend Jilly!! Go get em!!
I also want to send a congrat's out to Susan and Trevor who just finish the Coeur D'Alene Ironman -wow you go guys!! I'm sooo proud of you!! I've been think'in of ya lots!! Miss you.
Oh by the way, I have been using my CRF150 mtocross bike a bit more now. I went out with the boyz last weekend and had a blast!! We are planning on riding in the Kootenay mountains again this weekend. Fun hey!! As soon as I figure out how to publish pictures (new host remember...and I'm still not a fan yet- any suggestions???) I'll make sure to post them!!
The best to our good friends the Seminoff's, we are here for you!
Regards,
Bernie:)
06/19/06
Hello strangers, well I'm still having a few problems with the host company that I have choosen. Ugg...so I'm sorry about the delay in updating you guys!
If you have not figured out....or heard yet.....I (last minute) decided to do Provincial Fitness again. I did only diet for 6weeks (on and off) so receiving second (again) wasn't too disappointing. However; I'm coming in a bit leaner and changed up the routine a bit for a try at Nationals. Well, that is if I come in just the way I would like....kinda playing it by ear to see what my body does in the next couple weeks.
Happy Fathers day to my wonderful husband. I hope you had a good relaxing day yesterday!!
Judging Southerns was a blast....definately something I will continue to pursue. It's not always an easy thing to do....so hands up for all the judges!!
I'll keep you posted with new information soon.
Miss ya all......
Berns:)
05/25/06
I must appologize for those of you that have tried to access my website and had some difficulties lately. Things are almost back to normal since switching host companies. It is much more confusing than I would have imagined. I still am missing some images....sorry for the confusion....it should be fixed (I hope) soon!! Uhhg....I'll be back very soon with more exciting news!!
Berns:)
04/28/06
So far so good!! I'm updating once again and have started my training. Running is so refreshing outdoors....oh, how I missed it over the winter!! Tomorrow I will bike....even though my wonderful husband tried to take my bike in for a spring tune up but they were too busy....let's hope my chain stays on for the next few weeks!! ha (unlike my Duathlon in Vegas!!) :)
Pictures are finally downloaded on my computer....I just need to resize them and they be up soon!! I'll make sure to post some cool ones of me with my motocross bike in Arizona....hee hee....me on a motocross......way too cool!!
I'll be back...just a quick hello today!!
Berns:)
04/23/06
Oh my, you must be all out of my life by now! :) I apologize it has taken me forever to update!! I'mmmm baaackkk now. I took some time to rest....well deserved and now I'm back and ready to start training with intensity again. I needed a break from it all.......and proudly took a few months to ultimately relax. To be honest, I barely lifted and did only some cardio however I have not gained much body fat (considering) and I'm fluctuating in the 25-28lbs weight. Not bad considering I've been to Mexico, lived through the Easter Chocolate and Christmas!!!
Mexico was a blast!! I love it there....we went with great friends and also learned how to surf (not just behind a tournament ski boat- like we're used too!). Manzanillo- if you have a chance, check it out. It would definitely be one of my favorites (in Mexico).......and I've been to a few....
I do have pics, in which I will post; however I did have to transfer my access capabilities (website) to my home computer and it is not quite as convenient as the spiffy computer I was updating on originally. I will get them up soon!! I have updated the "What's new" section and I will keep you posted on Competitions (competing or judging) and my races this year. My full blown training is starting Monday and I'm actually excited!! See....sometimes a little time off is essential....I feel great (and extremely motivated) once again!!
Spring is here, well sort of, we had two days last week that were 22 Degrees....but yesterday it snowed!! Go figure, this is Calgary!! Today seems to be nice so far; and now that I kicked my little cold I'm going to move outdoors for running, biking etc.
Ashlee is getting so big, unbelievable how fast they grow!! 5yrs- in July- who would of ever thought!? Grant, is pumped for Motocross season! He hoping to find enough time between work (boat season now) and home projects!!
Oh!! One more thing...Congrat's to my best friend Dawn!! She just got married to her sole mate- Lawrence- enjoy it guys!! I'm sooo proud of you!!
Alright, keep in touch.....I'll be back sooner than I have been!! :)
Bernie:)
01/28/06
Once again, better late then never. I hope everyone is doing well. I have settled into my new job now and things are great! As far as fitness, I plan on racing quite a few road-races, triathlon's and duathlon's this spring/summer. Fitness/bodybuilding/Figure.....I still just do not know!? Once I know my schedule better I will update my journal and the "What's New" page with race dates etc. My hubby and I are also hoping to start riding our moto-cross bikes again soon! Winter has been nice so far in Calgary but finding the time is another thing all together!:) I'm working on getting the new pictures for you guys as promised......soon!! This was just a quick entry today.....but I will be back................
Berns:)
12/30/05
Hello my friends!!! It's been a while once again....I apologize to those of you that check my site out quite often. Life seems so hectic right now but I'm hoping to have new pictures and more exciting updates to my sight throughout the NEW YEAR!! I have some awesome pictures off myself attempting to motocross....the pictures are cool but I think it is because my gear is real "SWEEEEET":) !! I'll post them very soon so keep checking back!!
I'm getting excited to get into some competitive sports again in the New Year.....can you believe it will be 2006...that just blows my mind!! I'm still not sure about the Fitness,Figure and/or Bodybuilding shows for 2006....we'll just have to play that by ear.
Christmas was superb and Ashlee scored with Santa again this year......it is all about the kids...and she is enjoying her new toys and things...especially this week-Christmas/New Years break. Speaking of Ashlee, she is now finished with Gymnastics for the season and she begins Soccer next Sunday. I can't wait to see her in her uniform...pictures will be in a few weeks so I will make sure to publish some for you all to see how big she is getting!!
New Years, tomorrow, should be a blast. We'll be keeping it pretty low key...having a few friends over. I wish everyone a safe and happy New Year.
I'm close to being back on track with my schedule, so for those of you that I was not able to take onboard (as clients) until the New Year...."I'm back"...as of Jan lst I will be adding new clients to my schedule once again. I apologize again, for those of you I had to turn away since October. I look forward to hearing from all of you! Remember, check back for some motivating pictures and new journal entries. Miss you all!!
Berns:)
11/19/05
Holly Molly....so sorry friends...it has been awhile but I guess that just means I'll have more to write! :) Well, let's see...hmm...our trip, although we have now been back for a while, was great. Lot's of sun and surf and family time well spent. I did race that Duathlon in Vegas and it was great!! I won myself a cool little trophy and metal (1st Women's age) aside from my chain falling off 4 times during my race. I have to admit that I never realized how hard a Duathlon was!! That lactic acid in the legs from the 1st run...woooweee...it was painful but well worth it. I think I very well could have won the overall women if I would not have had sooo many bike problems.
I've now been trying out yet another new sport....my husbands forte...motocross. We actually purchased a CRF150, for me, while in we were in California (on holidays). So far I love it!! We went out to "Blackfoot" track last Sunday and aside from some huge wipe outs, scraps and bruises, I am okay and ready to get out there again. I need a lot of practice but it would be a neat idea to maybe compete one day!? My husband is leaving for LA, with the boys to compete- check it out: (www.adayinthedirt.com). I hope he does well....he's fast...it's cool to watch him ride!
The other great news is that I started a NEW job. I'm now outside the "Electronics/Display" industry and into the HVAC industry...yes!!...HVAC!?. My new company is "HBX Controls" and I absolutely love it!! I apologize for those of you that usually hang with me at the gym, until I get over my learning curve, I've been waking up at 5 AM to fit workouts in at home. Please email me though to keep in touch...I'm trying to check email at "bernie@bernadinefitness.com" as much as possible. The other bonus/good news is that I pick up my NEW car this week (Audi A4, 2.0L Turbo, Black on Black leather). Can't wait...sooo excited.
Oh yeah...I almost forgot...I had a chance to test judge at Muscle Beach and I passed. I really enjoyed it and think I may judge again in the spring if I'm invited. Sherry....you looked amazing and have come along way from the 1st weigh in days!! Keep up the great determination...girl you rock!!
Please keep in touch and again I apologize for not updating sooner!! Miss ya all :)
Bernadine
09/24/05
Ello...ello. How's eveyone? I'm fantastic, looking forward to holidays...we will be taking three weeks...yay!! Can't wait.....it's long overdue :) While in Las Vegas, I am going to be competing in a Duathlon but I really haven't been training extremely hard. My time has been stretched sooo thin lately. It will be fun either way though.
Check it out! My awesome sponser-"Better Bodies"- new forums section- Click Here. I have my own dedicated section for the ladies....hope you check it out!!
Only 6 more weeks for the gals competing at Muscle Beach. Unfortunately a couple of "my girls" had to pull out of show for medical reasons but they'll be back in the spring!! The ones whom are still competing are doing wonderful!! Keep up the great work and determination!! Remember...when you think you are working hard.....there may be others working JUST as hard or harder than you! :)
Have fun and stay focused!
Not too much more to tell ya right now. Oh!!! Ashlee started gymnastics on Thursday and it was so awesome to watch....it brought back so many childhood memories. Who knows, maybe she'll step in her mommies footsteps and be a National gymnast one day...if not, it is just so nice to see her having fun!!
I"m still not sure of my competitive plans for next year(2006)....we'll have to wait and see.
Talk with ya soon. Keep in touch...feel free to drop me a hello!! I look forward to hearing from you!
Bernie:)
08/26/05
Oh jeepers! It has been a while! I will update you quickly, since you all may be wondering how I did, on my second Triathlon ever.....well....I rocked! I actually beat all my times from my 1st Tri, which was my main goal. I was still fairly slow coming out of the swim but managed to beat my time by a few seconds. I believe I was 98th coming out of the water and picked it up to 45th ending the bike. Where I excelled was the run. I was 1st in my age for the run time, and 2nd for overall women, with a time of 21 mins. I still, same as my 1st race, had way too much left in me and could have ran even faster...uhgggg!! :) Can't wait till the next one!! I think it will be a duathlon in Vegas (maybe Tri.??) during our holidays. I'm contemplating competing a road race inbetween as well...maybe 10k, 5k or 1/2 marathon!? Who knows...have to sort out this hectic schedule first.
I did get a chance to wakeboard yesterday and forgot how fun it actually can be. Maybe I'll try competing in "that" descipline next year/summer....the cold water kills me!:) With some practice, and our good friend (pro boarder) coaching, it will definately be a challenge but a fun one! I would like to be able to flip with my board before I compete....cool hey!
Well, good luck to all my girls! The shows are all creeping up slowly now and the routines are looking phenomenal. You gals rock!!
I'll be back!
Berns:)
08/12/05
Yeah...It hasn't taken forever for me to post! Hope all is well. I have decided to do the Lake Chaparral Triathlon this weekend (Sunday). I hope to beat some of my times from the last Tri (my 1st-last weekend). I now have a new, sweet, Nike watch (pink-it's sooo cute). It should help with my split times and transitions (hopefully). The weather here in Calgary has been quite cold and rainy so I hope it is not too bad the morning of the tri....cold water is just no fun! :)
I would like to send a quick plug out to "my girls" training for upcoming shows. Most gals that have routines are finished, or near, and they look spectacular. Quick learners!! Keep working hard and stay focused, I'm proud of all of you!!
I'll be back with result from my 2nd Tri.
Goodluck to all competitors attending National Bodybuilding and NA's (Ohio)......it's just around the corner now....go get'em. I feel that a few Pro card's may be in reach for some of our fine Alberta athletes.
Bernadine:)
08/09/05
Hello Hello!! How's everyone? I bet your itch'in to find out how my 1st tri went!? Well, for those of you who do not already know.....I did much better in the swim than I imagined....I started dead last thinking I would be dead last and pulled up (slowly still) to the second pack. I finished the 750meters in 19mins....great....considering I didn't know forsure that I would even finish and my goal was 30 mins-ish. I did have one stop and almost panicked but controlled my breathing and ended up fine. After the swim I pass many on the bike (only one passed me) to finish unofficially around 41 mins (including transitions??) -20k bike. My best by far is running (23 mins -ish...I believe it included transition times!??). I sprinted hard at the end of my run, which made me a bit upset knowing I had SO MUCH left in me....I could have easily done another 5k...oh well...next time I will know!!
Thanks to Michele (testimonial 4)....you "ARE" my biggest fan.....and husband (Grant), daughter (Ashlee), my Mom and my Omi for being there at the race!!! Encouragment and support like that, from the people closest to me, is unbelievable and truely an inspiration!
I do believe I am hooked now....I actually have goals and times to beat unlike a judged sport.....so hooked in fact....that I let Susan's (from testimonials 3) husband talk me into joining him at another race this weekend in Lake Chaparrel. I know...call me crazy....hee hee...but that is just me!!
Again, to my hubby....I love you!! Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much (for everything)!!
I'll post again very soon!!
Bye for now......
Berns:)
08/02/05
Hello, I'm here..again I appologize for not posting sooner.....things have been hectic. Most of my clients have started dieting already and we need to get on the routines a.s.a.p. I just love choreographing routines, especially for others, it's seems so much easier than doing my own routines...ha! :)
We have also had company non-stop (it seems) this summer. Don't get me wrong, I just love my family but it will be nice when things slow down a bit so my husband, daughter and I are able to have some alone time. The great news is that we have planned our holidays and will be doing our regular driving tour through the USA. We plan on going to the US open (Motocross) in Vegas and then Olympia (Fitness/Figure) in Oct...after that we will drive to San Deigo Zoo for some fun times with Ashlee and then off to Arizona for a week of fun in the sun (boating etc). We usually try to make a trip into Mexico during that time too....but we play it all by ear since my hubby likes to drive and we take our time. Wow...3weeks off.... yeehaw!! Call me crazy but I'm thinking of doing a Triathlon or Duathlon during that time too.....while we are in Vegas(Oct 16th-ish)...we'll see!?
The only other news I have for you is that it sounds like National's for Fitness and Figure has been decided and it will most likely be in Edmonton (yeah!!) July,1/2006. I'm not planning that far ahead yet....have to see when Provincials are....even though I'm qualified for both Fitness and Figure (Nat's) 2006...I may want to try for that life time buy (again) at Provincial's!!?? Who knows....we'll just have to wait and see. It's too far away to predict anything and who knows how I will fair doing these Triathlons...I may have to train harder and try some more!? Maybe even a 1/2 Ironman or something?? :) :)
Talk to ya all soon!!
Bernie:)
07/27/05
I have a few minutes before I leave for a golf game with my mom!!! I have been training real hard for my 1st Triathlon Aug7th. I'm so excited!! I have been running 8-12K's and ending in some sprints...making some pretty good times! My biking has been great too....I went for a 2hr ride on Sunday morning....but unfortunately I was caught in a pretty bad rain/sleet storm coming back....and almost froze. Luckily, I made it home (pretty good time by the way since I was pushing myself past the limit just to get into a warm house) and then jumped into the HOT bath to get some feeling back. Crazy hey!!! Sleet in July....that's Calgary for ya!!! The swim portion has been okay, I'm concentrating on technique now and have been working with Krono's club...Colin is a superb coach and I see improvements already!! For those of you in Calgary, I hope to see you out at my race, Heritage Point, it should be a blast!!
Sunday was my daughter B'day party...everything went well....oh to be 4yrs old again!!! :) :)
Hope all is well...keep in touch and I will keep you posted on my training and race.
Bernie:)
07/14/05
Unfortunately I'm unable to recover my orginal message from the 13th.....so here is a new update:
Sorry for the delay....I had to change computers and it took some time to transfer everything. Thanks for the patience. Now the exciting news........
I will be competing in my 1st Triathlon Aug7th...I'm so excited!! I've been training real hard with the swim being my weakest link. My husband has been patient and has been following beside me in our boat(s) -HyperActive/Tige boats- while I swim across Chestermere lake. He has been so supportive! When I mentioned that I had signed up......he immediately went into action for all my gear. I now have a new (Tri) bike with all the accessories and my new (sponsored) O'neil wetsuit is on it's way......cool hey!!?
I have a few new clients competing at Muscle Beach and SWFC this year. I'll keep you posted with their progress and results. Good luck gals.....have fun and enjoy this adventure!!
It's my sweethearts 4yr B'day tomorrow....we will be having her B'day party next weekend though....can't wait!! She is growing up soooo fast...uhhggg!! :) :)
Feel free to drop me an email to say hello!! I'll keep you posted with my Tri- training and news before the big day Aug7th- "My 1st Tri"....yeehaw (how can you tell it is Stampede here in Calgary...hee hee).
I'll be updating my link page with some great Triathalon sites....check back soon.
Berns:)
06/16/05
Good day! Well, as you all most likely already know, I placed 2nd once again....a very proud accomplishment even though 1st would be really nice one day :) !! I have to say, I can not thank you all enough for the fan mail and compliments I have been receiveing. Those of you at that show, thank you for your support and your numerous emails pouring in with comments and excitement for my performance!! I would like to really extend a special thanks to Jared Bruce once again, my trainer and friend, he did a phenominal job and I'm proud of the package we presented on stage! Wendy, my backstage buddy, I had so much fun..thank you for being there with me!!
I will be doing Figure Provicials June 25th with the wonderful support of my husband. We will be working hard to bring a slightly leaner package to the Alberta stage. It should not be too hard considering it is easier for me to lean out than it is to hold tons of size geneticly. I'm excited to compete again since the Fitness girls were a pleasure to compete with and we all had so much fun backstage...what a great group of gals!! The quality of all the girls is getting better every year...what an honour!
I hope to see you all at this show and feel free to drop me a hello. I have posted some new pics of the show on the Photo-what's new page.
Bernadine:)
06/09/05
It's here!!!!!! Can you believe it? Well, I feel incredible!! What a great expereince and journey this has been, off and on-season. I have done my homework (alongside with the phenomenal guidance from Jared) and I'm bringing everything I have to this show. If others have done the same then great, this will be a spectacular show to watch!! The short class will be extremely competitive this year......with a few veterens coming back. I want to thank everyone who has been there for me...everyone!! And especially -you, my husband- Grant, you know I love you more than anything and your support is a real key to my success.
I'm on track with my target weight...filling out nicely....and leaner then ever. Routine is greeeaaat and my outfits (from Makenzie) are HOT!! :) :)
See you all there!! :)
Berns:)
05/26/05
Wow...I'm sorry for taking so long to place a entry. I have been crazy busy with it being so close to the big show-June 11th! I'm so ready, anxious and excited. It will be 2weeks this Sat...hard to believe it is here already. I hope you all will be able to check out the show -tickets available at Ticket Master.
I took some pictures this morning and I seem to be right on track. Some previous shows I have been known to peak days, even weeks, in advance and many times looked overdieted and/or too depleted. My new trainer has proven to me that he sure knows his stuff. I'm feeling so good mentally and phyically......which seems odd at this stage of the game!?? I have put my total faith in Jared Bruce this year and so far my improvements are dramatic!! Can't wait to see the total package/outcome!!! It has been a great off and on season dieting phase and I'm on target to come in 8 or 9lbs heavier than last year(last yrs pic-right)....and as lean or leaner!!
Feel free to drop me an email to say hi!! Talk to you all soon!
Bernadine:)
05/13/05
Friday the 13th!! Cool hey?! I have so much to update you on so here it is: I will have my pictures from my shoot with JC-Hardfitness soon. So stay tuned for updates to my photo page. I'm thrilled to let you know that Betterbodies will be placing my picture on the back of brochures for trade shows etc. I'm hoping to use a shot from JC (in the works). I have also received my BetterBodies (sponsered) tracksuit and will be wearing it proudly at my up and coming show. They will have a booth at Southerns so please feel free to stop by and say hello to Mark...I will hopefully be available at the booth between morning and evening shows to say hello!! A coupon is available, from my site, for discounts if you wish to take advantage of some savings- Coupon
I have to share this with you all....I had the most sweet, sincere compliment yesterday. A individual from my gym commented, in passing, that I looked as if I belonged on the cover of a magazine. I thought it was very sweet considering I'm still 4weeks out and it seriously wasn't meant as a cheezy pick up line. It was sincere and I was thrilled to hear such a unique and different comment/compliment!! Thank you to all of you (especially my husband) who support me through this!! It sure helps to hear great things at this stage of the diet.
Only 4weeks to go!! I'm getting excited and anxious!! Feel free to drop me a line to say hello!
Berns:)
05/11/05
Hello hello, hope everyone is doing well! Time for another quick update. I'm leaning out quite well now and holding a ton more size than last year..yay...just what I wanted. So far so good...let's hope I peak on the day of the show!!
My routine is coming along real well too. Wendy (also competing in Fitness Provicials) and I were working on our routines last night and on my last run through....I wiped out my handstand (where I lower myself to a hold right close to the floor). Well, I was so exhausted by then...my arms gave out and I fell right flat on my face pushing my tooth through my lip and flipping over in half, so my neck pretty much touched my back and my body continued to flipped forward. HA...I hope it looked as funny as it sounds!! Hee hee...if someone could have only caught it on camera!! As I lay dieing.....ha ha...Wendy says..."keep going you said so.....pretend like it's the competition". I did say that....oh well...my lip was bleeding and I just could not do any more for the evening. Back at "er" again tonight though....or tomorrow...we haven't decided yet.
Hope all is well.

Wow, I'm back from Nationals 2005 and want to congratulate team Alberta. Way to go girls! I found that some classes were a little weaker than most years and not many competitiors. That could be contributed to the date.....and no provincial qualifiers for 2005. I must add that the top girls in each class were quite impressive. One routine really stood out from the rest and that was Mariam Capes from Quebec!! Wow, in my opinion she definately deserved her Pro card. She, quite honestly, had the only routine that would be competitive at a Pro level!!
Here is a link to the results:
My shoot with JC went well and I hope to have some great new pics for you guys soon. I'm feeling better than ever for Provincials this year. My hopes are set on that lifetime buy!!
Again congrat's to Jill, Jamie, Allison, Angela, Trina and all the other Alberta competitors!!
Good luck to my girls in Kelowna this weekend!! You have worked so hard, now have fun!!!!!
Bernie:)

Bernadine:)
03/21/05
Well howdy all!! I'm back and have started the comp. prep (diet)...yeah!! I have so much that has been going on..... so I'll share alittle and update more later. So far the diet is great...alot of food....you forget how much it actually is at the beginning. I do not know why, but I've been a little scatter brainish since I started, ha ha.....already!!....which is weird. But listen to this, it should make you laugh:
-Sunday I was prep to leave for the gym to work on my routine and help a friend choreograph hers. So there I was, on my way all loaded up with child, gym bag and two food bags in my arms when I pulled the door closed behind me and locked myself (and daughter) in the garage...yes, I left the keys in the house and lock us in the garage by ourselves (freezing cold temps by the way)!!! HA HA......funny now, but not at the time. To top it off my husband was out of town and my daughter had to pee. She also happened to utter "mom, were gonna die in here" (and she's only 3yrs....ha)?? What a day!!! Called a locksmith eventually :) :) How about that...hee hee.
By the way, San Fransisco was a blast, very busy so not much time for play but the week(ish) off was good. I did end up loosing a bit of weight which I didn't want to do before the actual diet....but that's okay...I'll deal with it.
I have a photo shoot set up at National's with a great photographer from the US (Hardfitness). I will post more info. about his website, with a link and details in the near future. I'll be back soon to share some more "new" things that are happening in my world!!
Good luck to my clients...only 5-1/2weeks to go...hang in there gals!!
Bernadine:)
03/04/05
Hello again. Sorry it took me so long to update my journal but I have been busy trying to prepare for my business trip to San Fransisco. I'm excited!! A week off....yay....it's been quite some time since I took that much time off from the gym. I will be starting my competition diet shortly after I return...that makes me even happier! The only sad part is the week away from my family....I'll sure miss my hubby and daughter while I'm gone!!
I have some exciting news! I'm featured in this months Oxygen Magazine-pg.47. The photo is from National's 2004. Pretty cool. If you get a chance.....check it out!! I will also be profiled in a couple other mags in the near future...I will keep you posted with details and links. Keep in touch!
Bernadine:)
02/14/05
Happy Valentines Day everyone! Welcome to my new revamped website...I hope you like!
I'm getting really excited to start my diet now...just over 1 month away....yay. I'll be leaving for a business trip to San Fransisco before the diet starts and I look forward to that week completely off. A good rest week is just what I need and then watch out....here I come Provincial's, for my goal of that life time buy!! I feel sooo ready this year, physically and mentally.
I have another interview/profile to share with you in the near future. I will keep you posted on it's release.
Berns:)
01/31/05
Can you believe it is almost Feb.!! Wow, time sure flies. I have yet another link for you to check out....this time it features MOI...yeah me....cool hey!?
I had a great day at the gym today. I pressed my heaviest ever with chest:
185 bench press x 4
65 dumbbell incline x 7
Yeah...thanks to Cam for the spot!! It's so nice to have someone push you alittle further than you would by yourself. Oh, I have to tell ya- I even tried 405lbs deadlift last thursday...just about (2tries)...I dropped back down to 365 and pull out x6 no problem.
Anyways, thanks for listening. I hope training and dieting (for those of you that have started) is going well. Luv ya guys....thanks for all the support emails they really keep me going.
Bernadine:)
01/24/05
Hello, hello. How's everyone? Great I hope! Check it out, my friend has just launched her new site: www.jillstlaurent.com
Congrat's Jill your new site looks awesome!!
My hubby and I are hoping to drive down to Winnipeg for the Nationals April. 23rd to watch the National fitness and figure girls. I really hope we are able to make it....I would much rather be competiing......but thems the breaks! I'm actually gald that I have the extra few months to grow. I have made some significant gains in the last few weeks that would not have been possible if I was dieting for Nat's this year......blessing in disguise I guess!!
Well that is all for today. Keep in touch. Train hard, eat, sleep and have some fun!!
Bernie:)
01/14/05
Woah....sorry, it has been a while since I posted. I'm feeling much better now but unfortunately still have a bad ear. The ear infection is gone (supposedly) but I'm still deaf in the right ear which is really annoying. It will sure feel good to be 100% again!!
Training has been phenomenal. I've been lifting hard and heavy and enjoying it more than ever....the nice thing about bulking is the awesome strength gains compared to leaning up. I'm at my heaviest weight ever but I think I'm holding it very well and my muscles still look fairly full and hard......for those of you that compete, or bulk and lean out, you know how difficult it is to be heavier than usual, but this year I'm prepared and determined!! I will be bigger, stronger and leaner on stage than any competitive year ever. I want that lifetime buy!!
Oh yeah..I meant to tell ya all that my music is finally done.... and it rocks!!! This years routine will definately be packed with more moves, holds and surprises than ever before!! My choreography is pretty much done.....it just needs a bit of tweeking here and there..... and costume selection..then watch out Provincials.....here I come.
Hope you are all doing well. Feel free to send me a quick hello!! Take care and talk to ya soon!!
Berns:)
01/05/05
Well Happy New Year to everyone!! Hope you all had yourselves a safe a wonderful New Years.
Unfortunately I was bit by this horrible virus(cold/flu/fever) and it has now left me with a painful ear infection. This bug has been lingering for over a week now and I'm completely deaf in my right ear....uuhggg....what a pain. Training has been a little less aggressive then usual and eating properly has been tough.... being as sick as I was/am. I'm hopeing I'll be back on track by the end of this week (fingers crossed!!). Maybe I'll have some more exciting news for you with my next entry(sorry for being such a bummer). The good news is....I should have a decision on my "new idea" routine in the next couple of weeks....I'll let you know.
Keep in touch!
Bernie:)
12/30/04
Hello!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday. I was definately spoiled. I received so much stuff including cardio equipment. A sweet electronic treadmill and matching bike....yeah both...can you believe it!!! The only bummer is that I will not be able to use them until closer into my dieting phase......if you don't already know...I lose weight very quickly and I'm trying to keep as much size for this new competitive year as possible. Actually the other bummer is that I am really sick.....I have the cold/fever/chest cough bug that is going around and it's not fun.....I really dislike getting sick.....it sure takes a toll on the workouts!!
Wishing everyone the best and if I do not post again until the New Year. Have FUN, play safe.
Berns:)
12/22/04
Christmas is just around the corner now. How exciting...and "NO" I have not finished my Christmas shopping(yet).......I figure I can not break my habit (Christmas Eve) so I will just go with the flow. Hope everyone enjoys your holiday season!!
I have two clients dieting (first thing) in the new Year for shows in the spring. For all of you that have started or are starting your diets soon, have fun with it and remember "it is all worth it once you step on stage and look smashing!!" I will keep you posted with their progress and maybe even have some pictures and new testimonials once their changes are visible.
I will not be starting my diet until further into the spring(March). Still working on growing and enjoying my food (bulking) while I can.
Good luck to all competitors in 2005 and if I do not post again before Christmas then a very "Merry Christmas"...hope the "BIG GUY" is good to all of you!
Bernie:)
12/17/04
AHHH!! I still have not finished (or started for that matter) my Christmas shopping. I have this aweful habit of waiting until the last minute (Christmas Eve). There is just not enough time in a day!!
Training is going well and my weight, even though I plateaued for a short while, seems to be going up (slowly) again. It's tough not looking as lean as I usually do and "feeling" so fat (not "PHAT" hee hee) but I realize it is a must in order to grow and make essential gains. I have been hitting the weights hard and slowly increasing my weight from week to week. Most days I have a spotter now......that really helps!!!!
Enjoy your holidays....with the food and cheer.... during this season. I know starting in the New Year it will be clean up time.....to get ready for the diet season!!
Oh, don't forget to check out the new testimonial page. Feel free to email me with any questions or inquiries that you may have!
Happy Holidays!
Bernie:)

Thought I would drop you all a quick hello before the weekend. I've decided to most likely take Sat and Sun off training since my week has been extremely hard on my stiff little body. Not only did I squat 80lbs per side (my most ever-205lbs) but I acomplished deadlifts at 225lbs....yes!! 225lbs.....soooo exciting but I'm sure paying for it now...I'm so stiff...and it feels so good:):)
It will be nice to spend the full weekend with the family and maybe even get some Christmas shopping done.....instead of waiting for Christmas Eve like I usually do. We did finish our Christmas tree yesterday though.....and it looks awesome....Ashlee had a blast decorating it!!
She even has one of those calanders for Christmas with Chocolates in each date until the big day...remember those?!!
Okay, have a great weekend. Train hard, eat, sleep and enjoy!!
Berns:)
12/03/04
Wow!! I can't believe it is December already!! Time sure flys. My daughter is sooo excited about Christmas and Santa....oh, to be 3yrs old again!! :)
Not too much to tell ya today except that my traps and hams are kill'in me from Wednesday's workout!! Shhhhh be quiet though...if my hubby finds that out he will poke me were it hurts...:) LOL :) ....
We have my staff (www.matrixorbital.com) christmas party tonight. Ashlee gets to attend this year...should be a good time!!
Tomorrow is my big leg day at the gym....can't wait.....I have turned it up a notch with my legs, I'm usually stiff for about 2-4days.
Have a great weekend!!
Bernie:)
11/29/04
There are amazing girls with awesome physiques on this site....I am truley honored!! The exposure I have experienced lately has been overwhelming....I have even had fan mail....how cool is that!? :) It is definatley the encourageing words and support from others that motivate me even more!! Thank you!!
Oh, I must add....I have decided not to use the original music of choice for my routine. Reason? Well...I now have a new idea for my routine that is crazy creative, entertaining and very different!! I can't wait to see if it will fly, since I will not be competing until June now, I have much more time to choreograph and play with this idea. It is a little off the wall so I will keep you posted if it is even plausible. Eeeekkkk.......I'm soooo excited :) :) :)
Take care of you!!
Bernadine:)
11/25/04
Hello everyone! For those of you that do not already know....we have a new forum for Alberta Fitness, Figure and Bodybuilding athletes. Great place to mingle with fellow competitors and enthusiast. Perfect for staying in the loop!
Check it out:
My workouts have been awesome.....I can really see improvements/gains and I'm lifting heavier than ever now. I hope to compete 2005 as lean as usual....but around 5(or more!!??) extra Lbs of muscle. Because of my crazy metabolism my calories are still extremely high with absolutely NO cardio. I have learned to enjoy offseason more so then I used to....I don't put as much pressure and stress on myself when I do splurge or cheat a bit. I finally came to grips that it is tough to make muscle gains without putting on size, and size means some excess weight!! So train hard, eat lots, sleep and have some fun!!! :)
Bernadine:)
11/15/04
Hope everyone had a great weekend! My sister was in from Las Vegas for a few days and we all hooked up for Friday night.....what a blast! Even after our Friday night venture (one too many glasses of wine and lots of "silly" dancing) I still managed to pull off my leg workout Saturday morning.....WOW! I've turned it up a notch with my leg workouts....ouch....still feeling it today. It's a good ouch though....I'm sure many of you know what I mean....it's pain...but a good pain... hee hee...if that makes sense!? :)
Not too much to tell ya today except that I'm looking forward to a great workout week. Only a few more months to put on some quality size. Train hard, eat lots and have fun!
Berns:)
11/08/04
Okay, it's official...No National's for me in 2005 :( :(......Oh well, tis life!! I will be concentrating on one show....Provincial Fitness June11th/05.
I've have decided that once that competiton is over I will compete a triathalon....something I've always wanted to do!! Since I do not want to lose my 100percent focus for Provincial Fitness....triathalon training will begin immediately after my June show. I'M SOOO EXCITED...AND......If everything goes as planned....my husband (Grant Wallace) will also be training and competeing in the same triathalon!!
Nothing like keeping goals fresh and exciting...hey!!...hee hee!! Keep posted...you never know what I may decide to do next :) :)
Talk to you soon!!
Bernie:)
11/03/04
Well, Halloween has come and gone. What a blast....but way too much candy!! Hee hee
Yay!! My music is done!! A huge thanks to my girlfriend Dawn who has always helped me out in the music department. She is definately one of my biggest fans and has always been supportive for all my shows...she is an awesome friendl!!
My lifting/weight routine has changed slightly this week, thanks to Jared . My goal to compete Nationals this year may not work out for me as I had planned. :( The good news is..... I will have an extra 3months or so to grow, target the weights longer, gain some quality size and perfect my routine with even more new and exciting skills. So.....Provincials...."here I come" wanting it even more...than ever before.
Feel free to email me:
10/29/04
Welcome to my journal page! I look forward to keeping you posted with the latest and greatest.
Halloween is just around the corner and my Daughter Ashlee gets to dress up at her ballet class tomorrow....hee hee...those little angels will be so cute.....she is going to be a butterfly. Remember how exciting Halloween used to be!!! Now us adults just like stealing the candy....hee hee....well, some of us :) :)
My training is going extremly well....still trying to put on quality size. This will definately be my best year ever for gains.....every year seems to get easier and easier.....maybe because I seem to grow stronger mentally as well!! I should have my new music completed this weekend and my routine is almost all choreographed. For those of you that have complimented me on how much you enjoy my rountines....just WAIT till 2005...I won't let you down!! I have some cool and exciting moves that should freak you out!!!
I'll be back!
Berns:)
